The ANU Language Lab Team are:

Image_008Dr Evan Kidd
Evan is an Associate Professor in the Research School of Psychology at The Australian National University, and a CI at the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language. Dr Kidd has worked in various research institutions across Australia and Europe, beginning his current role at The ANU in 2012. He has been studying child language acquisition for 22 years in a number of different countries and cultural contexts.

Image_009Lauren Morrison
Lauren has been a Research Officer at The ANU Research School of Psychology since mid-2013, working with Dr Kidd on a variety of child language acquisition studies. She managed the Canberra Longitudinal Child Language (CLCL) Project until 2018. Lauren has a degree in Psychological Science from the University of Newcastle.

                         Amanda Piper

Amanda is the Research Officer currently managing the Canberra Longitudinal Child Language Project.  She completed her Bachelor degree in Applied Psychology at The University of Canberra. She went on to clinical studies, before having her two children. She was previously teaching at the ANU Research School of Psychology before moving to the language lab at the start of 2018 (details here).

Dr Tara Spokes
Tara started at the Lab at the commencement of the CLCL Project in early 2015, working on the various Electroencephalography (EEG) aspects of our research. Her PhD research investigated the changes in brain activity associated with ageing using EEG. Dr Spokes also lectured and convened for several undergraduate courses within The ANU School of Psychology. Her ANU researcher profile can be viewed here.

Image_012Dr Seamus Donnelly
Seamus has been with the Lab since early 2016, travelling from New York to take a post-doctoral position at The ANU.
Dr Donnelly completed his PhD research at the Graduate Centre at the City University of New York investigating the effects of bilingualism on cognition. View his ResearchGate page here.

Dr Sara Quinn
Sara’s PhD research, supervised by Dr Kidd, investigated how pretend play is important for language acquisition in a longitudinal study of children aged 18- to 24-months. Dr Quinn is also a registered Clinical Psychologist. View her ResearchGate page here.

Katherine_cropKatherine Revius
Katherine is a Research Officer at The ANU Research School of Psychology, joining the Lab in mid-2016. She is currently working on the Individual Differences in Linguistic Development (IDLD) longitudinal project (details here). She has three children and Previously she has worked in the Child Language Lab at Macquarie University. She has a degree in Linguistics from The University of NSW.

Noelie_cropNoëlie Creaghe
Noelie has completed her PhD research at the Lab which investigated the effect of different types of play on language acquisition. She is currently working for an AI firm whilst raising her son. Noëlie completed her degree in Psychology at Harvard University.

Shanthi Kumarage

Shanthi began working with the Lab as a Research Assistant, after having previously assisted on several studies and completing a student project with us. She has recently completed testing for the IDLD project alongside Katherine, as well as working with data for the CLCL Project. Shanthi is currently working on her PhD, on complex grammatical structures.
